It is said that Jamaican cocoa beans were the first beans to be imported into the UK. Initially, they were made into a milk drink, sold as medicine.
In Jamaica, the beans are purchased through a state organization. It is an organization through which any cocoa importer is obliged to pass in many countries. Generally, the cultivated cocoa is the Trinitario.
